Tony C., ? 10/02/2003  Hi, I am planning to attend the Garlic Festival again this year and will be bringing my wife. This year I have an addition I'd like to bring, my 15 month old baby daughter (Grace) will be attending her 1st Garlic Fest. My question is this - Is there an admission charge for her? I noticed in the FOG Magazine as well as on your website that there is an admission charge for kids 2 and older. Does this also apply to children under 2? I wanted to find out prior to ordering my tickets.

From Festival Headquarters:  Of course not! All Garlic Babies under the age of 2 get in FREE!  We guess being a couple of months old would have been a little too young for Grace to attend the 2002 festival! Doubt Mom would have felt up to it either. We're happy you are all going to get here this year.

Pat Marks, Ivor, VA 12/3/2002  I've helped a friend with his food booth at the festival for several years and love the atmosphere!

Karen Summers, Amherst County, VA. 10/13/2002  My daughter and I attended the garlic festival on Saturday, Oct. 12th. It is an amazing event, but I was shocked at the cost of $15 per person (for even her!). Also, the lines are getting way too long. I felt sorry for the people waiting to wine test. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you continue to charge the high cost to get in, you should make it worth it by being more organized inside the "gates."  Thanks.   From Festival Headquarters: Thanks for the input Karen.  As the festival grows, we work to fine tune with each passing year.

Deb and Ron, Tampa Florida 10/12/2002  If announcements are made on Sunday ~ is it possible to send a ""hello"" to my cousin's, the Epperley's, from Rustburg, Va.? Kathy Craft, Orange, Virginia 10/01/2002  I went to the Garlic Festival for the first time last year. My friends and I had a blast!!! So much to see, do and hear. I am hoping to make it this year. I will definitely listen to the weather first. Last year I burnt up with my long pants on!!!! Haha!

Teresa & Bob Williams, Chesapeake, VA 09/20/2002  First time we went was 2000 and LOVED it! We will be camping at Sherando Lake that weekend and our tickets arrived in the mail yesterday. We love garlic and wine and food and fun and are happily looking forward to a GREAT TIME:o) See you all there!

Wilson, Las Vegas NV 09/17/2002  Fort Defiance High School is having their 15th year Class Reunion that weekend and a Classmate of mine told me she was planning on coming to the Festival after the festivities. Well she convinced me to come to so looking forward to sampling some fine wine. Thanks to Sharon.

Katharine McDill~Wells,  Huntsville, Alabama 09/07/2002  I discovered the Garlic Festival in 1993 while attending Sweet Briar College. After graduation, my friends and I still make it an annual event to pack up our families and drive to Virginia every second weekend of October. When I walk through those gates, I immediately feel at home among the vines and bulbs. Thank you for so many years; see you in a few weeks!!   From Festival Headquarters: Hey Katie, about the Woodland Stage, we don't have your email.  Next best thing we could do was posting here.  Call Robin at 434-332-5848.

Wayne Moyer, Norge, VA 09/07/2002  Will there be a demo on how to braid garlic? I try, and try, but my braids are disasters. Also, will you have a discussion of garlic culture? When to plant, fertilizer, diseases and insects, harvesting, curing, etc. I know we are supposed to BUY garlic but some gardeners just want to have a row of our own. See you at the festival.

From Festival Headquarters: Go to any of the growers.  They love to share.  Or be ready to find your seat at the Round Table, Sat & Sun.

fjclem, raleigh, nc 09/07/2002  I'm thinking of going to the festival this year with a group of about 10 people and we are looking to camp out within say 20 minutes of the festival. Any suggestions?

From Festival Headquarters:  There's plenty of camping.  Mt. Pleasant has 7,580 acres alone.  There must be a spot within where you and your friends can roll out your bags.

Dave, Richmond 08/28/2002  I can't wait for this years Garlic Festival. I had the best time. I hope I run into some of the same people as last year. - Kim & Kim from Randolph Macon this means you!

Brenda/Donald, Tallahassee, FL 08/04/2002  My husband and I would like to attend the festival. We will be on vacation in Fredericksburg with the week of Oct 7 or Oct 14. How much out of our way would it be to either stop on the way up or on the way home. I could not located on the Virginia map. Probably my inability to read maps, LOL. See ya there!

Wrenn, Richmond 07/03/2002  My kids, 2 and 4 attended last year and keep asking when we are going back. They especially loved the pickeled garlic and the raw garlic with cheese. I can't wait to buy all the garlic my trunk will hold. The fresh garlic is exponentially better than the grocery store.

Lynn, Newark DE 06/12/2002  My husband and I come to Amherst every fall to visit his aunt and attend the Garlic Festival. We look forward to our pilgrimage again this year.

06/09/2002  I enjoyed the festival years ago with children in tow, counting the pennies to get in. Now we have a tent. The festival was fun as a guest and is as a crafter! It's really fun now, meeting one festival guest after another at our booth. Eating the food!!!!

Diane Buerkle 10/21/2001  Ah, Garlic! ...the breath of life! I attended the first annual and absolutely loved the whole idea! Since then I have moved from Blue Ridge VA to Charlotte NC. I've returned to the festival several times over the years with friends and relatives (from Upstate NY). Always get an ample dose of fresh garlic, a good bottle of wine and, of course, the wine glass and t-shirt!

Elizabeth, Walter and Ethan, Staunton, Virginia 10/10/2001  I have heard so much about this event. We are looking forward to the event and coming home stinkin'!!

Katharine McDill~Wells 09/26/2001  Hey! I went to Sweet Briar College and have probably attended nine Garlic Festivals. Driving to Virginia for the festival is my favorite part of the year. Thank you for providing people with such a peaceful, art-full weekend.

Sandra Napier-Rick Whetsel, Staunton,VA 09/24/2001  Haven't been to the festival yet, but we are going to be joining you this year.  I hope it's a great turn out as we have heard in the past. See you there.

JB AB & DB, Midlothian,VA. 09/09/01  We have made the Garlic Festival in 1996, 1997 & 1999.  Unfortunately, conflict of schedule didn't get us there last year. Only an Act of God will keep us away this year.  Looking forward to it.

Debbie, Lew & Britt Love 09/05/01  We've gone to the fest for several years...each year we take folks with us. This will be our biggest year yet! Folks keep asking us about it! Looks like we'll carry a record number with us this year! We love the food, the music, & all the fun.

Stu & MM Gardiner-Charlottesville, VA 08/27/01  Love garlic, love the festival, love to drink wine, love to listen to "Mainstreet Rhythm and Blues Band" - had a great time last year-coming again this year and bringing friends!

Melody, VA 08/01/01  I came to the Garlic Festival several years ago. It was very crowded when I got there. I'll try again this year. The photos clued me in...get there early!
